Kayla is a lesson in the power of soap operas. The name seemingly appeared out of thin air when Days of Our Lives introduced a character named Kayla Brady in 1981. The following year the name shot 500 spots up the chart to become #81 and just kept going higher and higher, peaking at #11 in the 90s. Then, the character was written out of the show and the name started waning in popularity. Coincidence? We think not.
